Wildcat Athletics
Alpena Athletics is built on a proud tradition of hardworking student athletes. With sports offered from 6th grade through 12th grade, students have the opportunity to develop their skills and character throughout their school years. Athletes take great pride in wearing the green and white colors, approaching every game with the same intensity and dedication. Students are committed to excellence in the classroom, actively giving back to the community, and working together in every sport.
Located in Northeast Michigan, Alpena High School is a Class A school and a proud member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), while competing in the Big North Conference (BNC).
Alpena offers a wide range of athletic opportunities, with 4 different sports at the junior high Level and 15 different sports at the high school level. This variety ensures that students can find their passion and thrive in what they love. Through dedication, teamwork, and community involvement, Alpena athletics continues to uphold its tradition of excellence.

Our Wildcats are all working towards the same goal: making Alpena athletics the best they can be. By working together and building strong relationships with coaches, fans, and the community, athletes form friendships that last a lifetime. Pride is taken both on and off each sport’s respected playing grounds, within the school, and around the community. The commitment to excellence defines Alpena athletics and strengthens the bond among all past and future Wildcats!
